New Website!

A new year, a new website! You may notice that things look a little different around here. The club wanted to make the front page a bit more useful, and a little more encouraging for new folks who are interested in what the club is all about.

We hope that the site is easier to navigate and that information is easier to find. We’d also like to encourage everyone to go visit the forum to see what we’re up to and get involved! Whether you have a scooter or not, whether you’re in Orlando or not… As long as you’re interested in scooters in Orlando, we’d like to hear from you!

So, happy new year from the Orlando Scooter Society, and we hope everyone enjoys the redesigned website!

Scooters 4 Hooters

The Orlando Scooter Society really made a great showing at Scooters 4 Hooters this weekend! Almost 50 people showed up to the club’s pre-ride event, hailing from all over Central Florida (And, beyond!), and many of you were even sporting our shirts! The big ride itself had nearly 200 riders, and everyone had a great time beeping, riding, and supporting the charity.

Sadly, our club cameraman had some technical difficulties getting video of the ride, but you can check out the pictures over on the forum! Be warned, a whole lot of large pictures are behind that link.

Update! One of our club members took some great video, which you can see here! And, another member took this video! Thanks, everyone, for putting these up!

A few of our club members won some prizes, and as a group, we won Breast Scooter Club! This is not something we will soon forget. The trophy is currently being proudly displayed in the Official Club Garage for all to see, so if you want to stop by Wrench Day next week (Sunday, the 18th, folks!), you can see it for yourself! We hope to see you there!

If you’re new here, make sure you check out the forum! We talk about all of our events there, and everything else, so please sign up and join in!

Rallies, Rallies, Rallies!

The Orlando Scooter Society made a great showing at the Scooter Encounter rally in Ocala, last weekend! Six of our members rode out, and we all enjoyed the wonderful weather and beautiful scenery the Ocala area had to offer. Don’t worry if you missed it, because, as always, our club makes sure to get some video for you all!

Sadly, one of our crew was backed into in a parking lot, and another skidded out in the rain, but noone was seriously injured, just some cosmetic damage to two club members’ scooters. We all still had a great time, and one of us even won a free cruise! Here’s looking forward to next year…!

After that, three of our club trekked all the way out to New Orleans for the Big Easy Weekender! THREE TIMES THE HARM!!! It was as perfect of a weekend as anyone could ask for, and the rally was awesome! Over 200 attendees, almost 400 miles ridden, sweet rides, cool prizes… This rally had it all! Plus HARMkhana! If you missed out, again, make sure to check out our video! If you decide to skip most of the video, please, make sure you see the last 39 seconds! You don’t want to miss HARMKHANA, 3XH!!!

A big thanks for the New Orleans crew for putting us up for the weekend, and congrats on hosting such an awesome rally! Definitely looking forward to next year, although this seems pretty hard to top!

February Ride Review!

Febuary’s ride took the club to Deleon Springs, where we went on a boat tour and ate pancakes and the Old Spanish Sugar Mill. It was a bit cool out in the morning, so layers of clothes were in order. The ride back was beautiful! Here is a video of our ride:

Orlando Scooter Society Febuary Ride

Missed this ride? That’s ok, our March ride is coming up on March 6th! Be sure to join in as we go to Deland and Daytona to take part in bike week 2010! Also, don’t miss Wrench Day on the 7th!

January Ride Review!

The January ride was a fun, 1 hour+ ride that concluded with dinner at the Willow Tree Cafe in Sanford. 10 riders met at the Stardust and rode out at 5:30pm. Coming from the other side of Sanford, 6 more riders were on their way. The group of 6 riders arrived first at the Willow Tree Cafe, scoring the club some prime parking! Around 6:30-6:45 the group of 10 riders had arrived and greetings were exchanged and new friends were made. With 16 members from all over central Florida, the club sat down inside the restaurant and enjoyed food, good conversation, and the Bavarian entertainment provided by the Willow Tree Cafe. It was a wonderful evening and it seems like everyone had a good time. Although there was a chance of rain steadily increasing as the night continued, no one got rained on. What more could a scooter club ask for? Be sure to check out the video of the ride in the photos area of the site, over on your right hand side. Special thanks to everyone who came out making this night a success!

Happy New Year!

Happy 2010 everybody from the Orlando Scooter Society! In the up coming year look towards the calendar and forum for new club events and rides. An example of this would be the end of the year ride to The Bavarian Restaurant in Longwood. A good ride with a great destinantion all planned in a week on the forum (pics coming soon). There will be more rides like this in the future. 2010 is going to be a year of great growth for the OSS.

December Ride Review!

The Jingle Bell Ride, held on December 12th, was a successful and fun ride! We met at the Stardust at 6:30 and were on the road at 7. The weather was nice – about 70 degrees. The ride first took us to Winter Park near Aloma and Lakemont The neighborhood had a few blocks that were well-lit. Next, the ride rolled to a neighborhood off Howell Branch. There was an incredible house there. After that, the club took to the twisties and took the loonnng way to Crane’s Roost. At Crane’s Roost we stopped and had some “hot” cocoa. We noticed that the ride that was suppose to take an hour had actually taken 1 hour and 45 minutes and we were not at our final destination yet! Knowing that our final destination had a band taking the stage in 15 minutes, the club decided to change the final destination to Tom and Jerry’s on 17-92. A quick route was taken to Tom and Jerry’s, where the scooter decoration contest took place. Kyle won the contest with his Zuma that was sporting Christmas wrapping paper, a radio playing Christmas tunes, and Christmas tree with lights hanging off the back of his scooter. Congrat’s to Kyle and a thank you to all who joined the club for the ride!
